NC FarmLink Featured in Southeast FarmPress
NC FarmLink is working with NC Choices on a grant funded project to tackle one of the biggest barriers new farmers face, namely the cost of land. This is especially true with ruminant meat producers, who typically require more acreage for grazing cattle, sheep, and goats. This project will identify affordable long-term lease opportunities for new farmers by pairing them with 1) land that might be considered marginal for crop production but suitable for silvopasture systems that integrate trees, forages, and grazing livestock, 2) protected lands under conservation easement, and 3) lands designated for solar installations that might benefit from animal grazing management.
